Sustainability foundations

UnitingCare Community has embarked on an Environmental Sustainability Project, which includes a range of initiatives to reduce carbon emissions and organisational costs across our 297 properties. As part of these initiatives, energy audits have been conducted on various sites throughout the state. The energy audits have enabled us to gain an understanding of our current energy consumption and opportunities to improve energy efficiency in the future.

In order to manage the Environmental Sustainability Project we have implemented a sustainability plan that sets out to reduce the cost of electricity, water and waste across our organisation by $50,000. Our sustainability efforts have been made possible with funding from the Commonwealth Government - Department of Industries and generous support from our corporate sponsors.

Our efforts thus far have also been recognised by the State Government as we were finalists in the 2014 Premier’s Sustainability Awards.

UnitingCare Community works to UnitingCare Queensland's Sustainability Vision and Principles in all that we do in the space of eco-effiency.
