We are committed to work integrated learning in the community, and believe that students play an important part in developing and adapting to the future of the sector. Although we try to accommodate all applications, demand for these placements is always high, and places are limited by organisational needs and capacity at the time. This service is offered to students based within Queensland.

Clinical placements

UnitingCare Community can provide clinical placement for students from a range of disciplines, including social work, human services, psychology, and counselling.

Non-clinical placements

Non-clinical placements (placements not requiring clinical hours or face-to-face counselling) are available based on organisation need and capacity. Non-clinical placements are open to students of all disciplines.

Applications for clinical and non-clinical placements need to be submitted before the below dates to ensure enough time for the placement process. All placements submitted before the closing date will be considered and you will hear back from us within one month of the closing date with the outcome of your application.

Closing dates for placement applications (each year):

  • Semester 1: 23 November
  • Semester 2: 15 April
  • Summer semester: 17 August

Student work experience

If you are a student and would like to gain some valuable work experience in your spare time, from time to time there are specialised volunteer positions available across our services. Work experience is open to students of any discipline.

There is no closing date for student work experience applications.
