Outback early learning in your home (In Home Care)

  • Can’t get to mainstream early childcare services because of your remote location?
  • An educator will live on your property and provide flexible care and education in your home
  • This service is available to children aged 0-12

The In Home Care service is an early childhood program for children aged 0-12 years who, due to their geographical location, or other identified need, are unable to access mainstream early childcare services. You may be entitled to government assistance to access this service

This service aims to provide an alternative to long day care, family day care, and before and after school care, which would be available in more urban areas, and is delivered to your child on your property.

Our In Home Care Facilitator will work closely with you to appoint a qualified, early learning professional and will also negotiate the right hours for the educator to work with your children. Once the educator is on board, the same Facilitator will carry out their induction and keep in regular contact to ensure your family is happy with the arrangements. In most cases the educator lives on your property, so you would need to be able to provide safe and comfortable accommodation, as well as transport to and from the property.

The service is available in Charleville and North Queensland. Charleville also covers South West Queensland - Quilpie, Windorah, Birdsville, Cunnamulla, Thargomindah, Roma, Mitchell, Emerald, and parts of Longreach. North Queensland also covers North West Queensland - Mt Isa, Cloncurry, Julia Creek, Charters Towers, George Town, Croydon, Normanton, Burketown, Richmond, Hughenden, Boulia, Winton, and parts of Longreach.

Remote Family Care Service

  • Looking for a short-term early learning program to be delivered on your property?
  • Our qualified educator will come to your home for up to three weeks
  • This service is available to children aged 0-5 and their siblings

The Remote Family Care Service is the only service of its kind in Queensland, providing short-term early learning programs for children aged 0 - 5 years who, due to where they live, cannot access mainstream early childcare services. You may be entitled to government assistance to access this service.

The aim of the program is to provide outback children with an opportunity to engage in an early learning program for up to three weeks, delivered in the nurturing environment of their own home. As long as at least one of your children is under the age of five, we can provide a qualified, early childhood educator to come to you, enabling you to access this unique service.

The service is available in Charleville and North Queensland. Charleville also covers South West Queensland - Quilpie, Windorah, Birdsville, Cunnamulla, Thargomindah, Roma, Mitchell, Emerald, and parts of Longreach. Remote Area Families Service (RAFS)

  • Keen to access early learning services without having to travel?
  • Our educators can travel to you to provide a home visit , a mobile playgroup and resources
  • This service is available to children aged 0-12 (with an emphasis on children aged 0-5)

The Remote Area Families Service (RAFS) provides a unique, mobile, early childhood program with an emphasis on children aged 0-5 years who do not have access to any other early childcare services. Enrolment in the program is voluntary and free of charge.

Our early learning educators are able to travel to your home to provide a range of play-based activities and family support services. For example, why not get a group of fellow parents and their pre-schoolers together at your home and book our mobile playgroup to come to you? Alternatively, you can request a home visit from our professional team, who can tailor their approach to best suit your child.

Home Visits
Home visits is where a team of our qualified educators will come to your home for a morning or afternoon visit and stay overnight. As part of the visit, we look at the families’ and children's interests, strengths and challenges, in order to determine what sort of assistance is required. This individualized support will involve a program of activities for the children and parents (this can include group activities, as well as discussions with parents). We can also refer families to extended services and support.

Early Education Events - Playgroups
Staying in touch with other children is a wonderful way for your child to learn and develop. Group activities such as playgroups are a great way to get kids interacting, playing and socialising with their peers, and they’re perfect for parents too. Being able to talk to other parents, particularly with children of the same age, you can share your experiences, issues and tips with dealing with your child’s developmental leaps and ages which makes the parenting journey all that more enjoyable and easier. We can help you set up a playgroup in your own community - we’ll assist by providing support, ideas and resources.

Family resources
Early Childhood is a crucial stage in the learning journey, so it’s important that children and families have the right support. We can provide:

  • Quarterly newsletters
  • Support packs
  • Play-based activities at community events and open days
  • Toy library and parent resource library
